Tequila & Chocolate Masterclass: a tasting experience

There are evenings that simply delight — and others that awaken the senses. Our Tequila & Chocolate Masterclass was truly the latter.

Hosted in the warm and intimate setting of Bacchus Wine & Spirit, we gathered for a refined and convivial experience where craftsmanship, flavour, and storytelling met in perfect harmony.

From the very first pour to the final note of cacao, the evening unfolded as a journey — one designed to be savoured slowly.

Discovering the Art of Tequila — Casa Dragones

We explored three exceptional expressions from Casa Dragones, each revealing a distinct personality and depth.

  • Joven — Fresh and elegant, with notes of agave, soft citrus, and delicate florals. A beautifully balanced introduction that felt both vibrant and refined.

  • Reposado Mizunara — Rested in rare Japanese oak, offering cooked agave, orange blossom, and subtle spice. The Mizunara influence added a silky, unexpected complexity.

  • Añejo Barrel Blend — Deeper and more contemplative, with roasted agave, cacao, dried fruit, and toasted oak. Designed for slow sipping, it invited us to pause and truly appreciate each layer.

Each tequila told its own story — of terroir, aging, and meticulous craftsmanship — transforming what many perceive as a spirit into something far more nuanced and elegant.

Grand Cru Chocolate Pairings by Philippe Pascoët

To elevate the tasting experience, we paired the tequilas with Grand Cru chocolates by Philippe Pascoët — each carefully selected to highlight specific aromatic profiles.

  • Sambirano 68% – Madagascar
    Vibrant and fruity, with notes of blond orange, blackcurrant, lime, and grapefruit. Its bright, refreshing finish beautifully complemented the freshness of the Joven.

  • Venezuela 88%
    Deep and structured, revealing intense cacao, roasted coffee, and noble wood. Exceptionally concentrated, with a long and powerful finish that resonated alongside the Añejo.

  • Papua New Guinea 70%
    Wild and earthy, with smoky notes, raw cacao, damp earth, and a subtle touch of spice — a bold and intriguing pairing moment.

The dialogue between tequila and chocolate was fascinating. Sweetness met spice. Citrus lifted cacao. Oak embraced roasted notes. Each pairing revealed something new — an unexpected harmony between two artisanal worlds.

A Fragrant Interlude

Guests also had the opportunity to discover two refined fragrances from Narciso Rodriguez:

  • Musc Scandal for Him (100 ml)

  • Pure Musc Blanc for Her (100 ml)

An elegant sensory extension of the evening, these fragrances echoed the same philosophy as our tasting: depth, identity, and understated sophistication.
